IUD Update....
Well this is a follow up from my last post...Well, on Thursday night after having a few people over for a barbeque I started feeling some chest pain. I felt short of breath but I also hadn't eaten steak in a while so I figured that maybe I just had heartburn. Well, I awoke like 5 or 6 times that night but I din't have any tums so I just wrote it off. Then my sister and I went for a walk in the morning and I felt like I had pressure when taking deep breaths so when I got home and realized that I had a rash starting all over my body I decided to call my dr. She was in surgery. I told the nurse the story and she said she would talk to my dr. and call me back(a call was returned telling me that these symptoms were not related to the IUD but if they got worse to go to the ER). I decided to call the ER(where I work) and luckily it my was favorite dr. who was on. She said to come over before my scheduled ultrasound and we would do an x-ray to make sure it hadn't perforated. So we all looked at the x-ray and had determined that it must've just fallen out cause we couldn't see it anywhere then the dr gasped and swore..then pointed. It was almost up to my ribs..Somehow, I have been given no explanation how or why but it traveled through my uterine wall and was in my abdomen...luckily my diaphragm was protecting my lungs but my bowels and other organs were still at risk so about an hour later I went to surgery. They were able to do a laparoscopy and I have 2 small holes in my abdomen and I am just so glad that dang thing is out of me! My dr told chad after the surgery that the strings were starting to wrap around my liver. So now I just have to make sure I don't have to pay for any of this. Supposedly my uterus will just heal itself and according to my trustworthy dr I will have no lasting effects! But I am doing good, just sore and tired! I am just taking a break from laying down to update you all and tell you thanks for the support!

Birth Control Horror Story!
OK so if the words Uterus or birth control make you uncomfortable then just don't read but I have to post this so if you are contemplating you can have this to consider...I wish someone would've warned me!
This is a picture of the Mirena IUD (intrauterine device). It is inserted into your cervix and it is pill free and effective birth control for 5 years...well, most people completely enjoy this and it sounds much better than taking pills. Well, I had mine placed almost 3 weeks ago. The pain was so severe and I felt a pop since I had a c-section and with nursing havent menstruated for over 3 years my cervix hadnt been dilated..but I was reassured that it is normal for it to be painful and I took my motrin and went home. The next day I literally was crawling around because the pain was so severe. I called and was assurred that it will cramp for a week then should get better. 1.5 weeks later I called again..the pain wasn't as bad but I literally had sharp pains and was not something I wanted to live with. They told me to come in and they would check it as I am sure they rolled their eyes. When I arrived my dr did an exam (my dr didn't insert it the midwife did) she looked up and asked me if I was sure that it didn't fall out by itself. Pretty sure I am not making up this pain...Anyway after 30 minutes of uterine torture and ultrasounds she determined that my uterus is swollen and infected and the IUD strings are unreachable. Well, 1 week later and a nasty potent antibiotic later I went back today because she thought that once the swelling went down she could get to it...well it appears that it is probably embedded into my uterine wall. She did reassure me that their is a chance that in the past week it could have expelled itself and that what she is seeing on ultrasound could be scar tissue.....Anyway, she said that it is a 90% chance that I will be going into surgery next week and she just hopes that it is still in my uterus and not somewhere else in my abdomen!! I have to wait another week for another ultrasound that a radiologist will read because after all the damage she did while digging around up there today my tissue is all white on ultrasound and nothing will be visible...so sorry if this is gross and I know that many people do have great experiences with these IUD's but I wouldn't recommend it to my enemy!

Memories
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you new me a little or a lot. Anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. Its actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.
...or about Chad or both of us!

Finally a Few Pics
So this is a pic of our house with our yard. We are a bit burned out so we haven't done any plants or shrubs or bark yet in our planter areas...but soon cause weeds are growing. Thanks to all the friends, neighbors, family and especially Chad for all the hard work. We are really enjoying the yard, the swingset(which took 8 hours of Chads and Popi's day), and soon the trampoline (which has been set up for Cali's winter enjoyment in our unfinished basement). I am excited to have a giant playpen in the yard!!
